In his first interview since bestselling author Junot Diaz was accused of sexual misconduct, he has denied all allegations.
Writer Zinzi Clemmons accused Junot of forcibly kissing her on the lips in a stairwell and has been joined by a few other women.
Junot denied all allegations saying “I was, like, ‘Yo, this doesn’t sound like anything that’s in my life, anything that’s me.’ ”
He said he was ‘distressed’, ‘panicked’ and ‘confused’ about the allegations levelled against him but insisted he didn’t do anything untoward to the women.
Junot gets to keep his job at MIT and his position as editor at the Boston Review after the latter released a statement saying the accusations lacked “the kind of severity that animated the #MeToo movement”.
Interestingly, the allegations came after Junot wrote an article chronicling his experience with sexual abuse.
